Hi, Rachel. It is likely that your Richard Hughes is recorded in the
September quarter, although not necessarily so. The registrations are in
'quarters' i.e. those born in Jan, Feb and March are likely to have been
registered in the March 'quarter,' those born April, May, June in the June
quarter, and so on. However, sometimes people were a bit late registering
their offspring and one of my grandparents, although born in August, was not
registered until the December 'quarter.' If I had not been absolutely sure
of his birth date, this could have confused me good and proper!
Good luck.
Dianne

Subject: [WALES-GEN] Free BMD question
I have just found some possible suspects on the Free BMD site, but
am
not sure how to interpret them.
I am looking for a Richard HUGHES. I haven't confirmed his exact
birthdate, but counting backwards from the date of his death, I believe
it to be August 3, 1845.
My search turned up four Richard Hughes' born in Bangor in June, and one
in September. The months given for search options are March, June,
September, and December.
Does this mean that the first four Richards were born between June and
August, and the fifth between September and November?
I look forward to hearing from someone with some insight.
