Mr John Cory, a millionaire mine-owner of Cardiff, Wales is dead
Mr Cory who was born in 1828 was chairman of directors of Cory Bros and
Co Ltd, colliery proprietors and vice chairman of the Barry Docks and
Railways. He was long prominent in the political, educational and
charitable enterprises of the Principality, was president of the Newport
Liberal Association, presented a memorial hall to the United Temperance
Societies of Cardiff and was the donor and founder of the Soldiers and
Sailors' Rest in the same city.

Mr Solomon ANDREWS who began his life as a hawker of pies in the streets
of Cardiff Wales has left a fortune of £194.984. During his 73 years of
life he was engaged at various times as pedlar, baker, bus proprietor,
draper, undertaken, cab proprietor, restaurant keep and colliery owner.
