First time on the list.
I have an entry from the 1881 census, giving Hoult, Wales as a birthplace.
Could SKS tell me where that is (or was) please - it's not in my Motoring
Atlas.
TIA
Probably Holt in Flintshire, Andrea. I've seen marriage registers referring
to a Mr. so and so of Hoult at parishes not so far away from Holt. It is
just out of Wrexham - less than five miles. Parish register transcripts
should be available from the Clwyd Family History Society for early years
at least. Holt is a parish in Denbighshire, registers commencing about
1661. The IGI (International Genealogical Index set up by the Mormon
Church) lists from 1850-1869 only, which are probably from Bishops
Transcripts. However, just to confuse you, there are other towns named
Holt as shown in the AA BIG road atlas of GB, but only the one (as far as I
know) in Wales. Good luck.
Cheers
