Hi Bill,
I am also researching my Price ancestors (Pryce and Pryse also used). My
mother was a Mary Pryce born in Llangurig, Montgomershire although the
family was from Radnorshire. In my Lewis line which I discussed in an
earlier e-mail there are Price ancestors (my father's line) from Rhayader
(Rhaeadr) Radnorshire.
At the moment I have a book in front of me with the long title "The
Forgotten Composer Edward Meredith Price, Penlan. A brief history of the
Pugh's of Radnorshire 1712 to the fifties. Farming with the Sims family
1880-1950" by Margaret Ivy Sims Jones. I had just looked something up in
the book when I found your e-mail and thought I would pass this on because
of the name Meredith. By the way in Wales it is prounced MerREDith with the
emphasis on the next to the last syllable. In England where I now live it
is pronounced MERedith with the emphasis on the first syllable. In fact
although I left Wales in 1948 aged six and have lived in England since then
I find it impossible to pronounce it the English way!
Regards,
Margaret Harvey

Subject: [WALES-GEN] Meridith Price
My ancestor Meridith Price b. 1644 in Bristol, England, emmigrated to to
Virginia in 1665, apparently married "Mary" in 1666 and died in Westmoreland
County in 1708.
I have been unable to trace his ancestry in England. I suspect that he
might
have been a first generation in England and his roots were in Wales as Price
or Ap Rice Any help would be greatly appreciated.
