"David X. Jones, an old resident of Peckville, died on Sunday morning of miner's
asthma, but had been in bed only three days before his death. Deceased was born in
Glamorganshire, Wales, and was aged 73 years, 6 months and 21 days. Forty-six years ago
he came to this country, settling in Scranton, and after having been in his adopted
country a short time, he married Ann Thomas of Wilkes-Barre, sister of the late John
Thomas of Luzerne Borough. She died eight years ago. Mr. Jones is survived by the
following daughters and sons: Mrs. A. Raynor and Isaac Jones, of Luzerne Borough; Mrs.
E.L. Trescott of Kingston; Frederick Jones, of Sugar Notch; William, of Ashley; Mrs. John
Powell, of this city; and John and Edward of Peckville.
"Mr. Jones was a miner and followed his avocation until about ten years ago. He was
esteemed by all who knew him, and he was a faithful member of the Peckville Baptist
Church.
"The funeral will be held on Tuesday afternoon, when services will be conducted in
Peckville by Rev. W.J. Thomas. The remains will be brought to Forty Fort cemetery for
interment."
