Used to know Roger Crago in the late 60s in Bristol but came from South Wales and was back
there by the mid 80s. Must have been 32/33 in 1968, prosperous as an Insurance Broker in
Broad St Bristol 1.
Never saw him again but pleasant Man.

John

There is, or maybe was, a family named Crago in Neath, West Glam. Shouldn't be hard
to find.
If you see someone without a smile on their face why not give them one of yours. They are
all totally free and you will feel much the better for it. Sent from my iPad with best
wishes.

Hello,
I have been researching my father's family in Cornwall. The surname Crago/Cragoe may
very likely be an angilized variant of a Cornish Celtic name for mound or barrow with a
surrounding earthen ring. Early 14th, 15th, and 16th century spellings found in archives
are Crugowe and Cragowe. The name is also found in Scotland used as a surname and a
place name. There is a village of Craigo near Montrose and at least two Stone Age or
Celtic sites with the name Crago.
I have been wondering if there is similar surname and / or a similar name for ancient
burial barrows in Wales. I have come found a barn called Craigo Barn in Wales. The
owners did not know the origin of the Craigo name.
Have any of you come across sound a similar surname or place name in Wales?
Steade Craigo

There was a birth of Lewis Price ROBERTS in Conway registration district in
September quarter 1903. Judging by 1911 census he was actually born in
Llandudno, the son of a postman. I get the impression that many Liverpool
families used to holiday in Llandudno, and Liverpool would be one of the big
cities people from Llandudno might well move to for work purposes.
There was a marriage of a Lewis P ROBERTS in St Asaph registration district
in March quarter 1940, the spouse apparently being Evelyn JONES.
There were two marriages of a Daisy M Fitzpatrick that might perhaps be
relevant. One was in Kingston district, Surrey in September quarter 1932
(when your Daisy would have been 15), the spouse being James C Taylor. The
other was in South West Essex in June quarter 1940 when the spouse was
Charles W J Dean.
www.freebmd.org.uk will give you the references. All of them may simply be
coincidences.
A Lewes Price Roberts born in 1903 died in Central Devon in 1971.
Ancestry shows that their Liverpool Burial Records include a Daisy May
Roberts. You would need to check the date and details. This may be a child
born and died in West Derby in 1921.
A number of marriages during WW2 took place abroad, especially if both
parties were serving in the forces. I suspect that it may also have been
possible for Liverpool couples to get married in the Isle of Man or even
Northern Ireland.
The war put a strain on many marriages if partners were separated over a
length of time, and the early years after the war also led to the breakdown
of a number of wartime marriages.
If your family migrated to Australia in the 1950s, it is quite possible that
Daisy's family may also have migrated somewhere. Family stories might give
some clues. If you have younger siblings with whom your parents spent a good
deal of time in later years, check whether they remember any stories, or
where any letters or Christmas cards from relatives were sent from. In the
1950s a lot of youngsters collected stamps.
Best wishes with your research. Please bear in mind that information about
living persons is best sent off-list.
Jeff
