"The departure from this life on Sunday night of Mrs. Margaret Davies, relict of the
late Isaac Davies, mention of which was made in yesterday's issue, was no surprise to
her friends, she having been in a very serious condition for some weeks. Mrs. Davies was
about 71 years of age and had for thirty-four years been a resident of Pittston. She was
a native of Monmouthshire, South Wales. Mrs. Davies was well known here, having been
actively engaged in religious work during her younger years. Devoted in life to church
work, she consistently strived to do good to the suffering. Cheerful and gentle in
disposition, her acquaintances valued highly her friendship. She was a faithful member of
the First Baptist Church. The following members of her immediate family survived: Mrs.
Mary Edwards, widow of Matthew Edwards; David D. Davies, the well known butcher; Mrs.
Sarah A. Kemp of Williamstown, Pa.; Isaac C. Davies of Syracuse, N.Y.; John A. Davies of
Butte, Montana; Thomas, Alexander, Arthur and Edith Davies, all of this city. Mrs. Davies
is also survived by one sister, who resides in Minersville, Pa., and by one brother, who
lives in the old country. The funeral will be held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30
o'clock from the First Baptist Church. Interment will be made in Pittston
Cemetery."
