Hi List!
I am wondering if someone could tell me who married Francis THORNTON, in
1881 in the district of Neath, Glamorgan, Wales? Was this his first
marriage? How can one tell?
I believe he was the Welsh Mariner, Francis THORNTON, born 1856 in the area
of Neath Abbey.
Seen below in the 1861 Census with his father and mother, Thomas and Ann
HOPKINS THORNTON is a Francis THORNTON, born in 1856 at Neath Abbey:
1861 CENSUS OF NEATH ABBEY:
THORNTON THOMAS [1] HD M 35 FURNACEMAN IN FORGE LAN NEAR OLDHAM (c1826)
[Born between 1826 and 1829]
THORNTON ANN (Hopkins) WI M 34 - GLA NEATH ABBEY (c1827)
THORNTON FRANCIS SO U 5 SCHOLAR GLA NEATH ABBEY (c1856)
=====
Since he was a Welsh Mariner it may explain where Francis was during the
1881 Census. Is this a correct assumption?

Also found a death for a Francis but, of course, the death could be a son or
a nephew ...especially if Francis' Engineer Certificate was issued in 1889?

I would appreciate any help in answering some of my many, many questions?
Thanks,
Jan
