Hello,
There is a long-time Professor at a University in Canada who has spent many years
researching the "child migrants." Included was researching all the facilities
who originally held the needy children who were eventually shipped to Canada. And, she
studied the ships that sent them over. She has a very good web site:
http://retirees.uwaterloo.ca/~marj/index.html
http://retirees.uwaterloo.ca/~marj/genealogy/homeadd.html
On that page there is mention of the important BHC data base. If you are curious, you
could search the data base for the surname you are interested in to see if any of the
children arriving in Canada were related to you.

But, maybe 2 yrs. ago she published her book. A large, important book mentioning all, or
most, of the facilities where the needy children were before they left the UK.
The Golden Bridge: Young Immigrants to Canada, 1833-1839 from Dundurn Press October 2003.
*I'm only mentioning this page because it offers a description of this book. I have
no, financial interest in Marj's book. Just trying to "spread the word."

This is a reminder that several terms about the UK's "child migrants" are
searchable on-line.

have possible parents for him; will need to check the archives of the Shropshire List.
And I don't know their heritage.)
