Dear Jan,
I think it possible that your Parry ancestors could have come from the
north-west of Wales where there were slate quarries. It may be helpful to
subscribe to a Rootsweb list for one of the north west counties such as
Caernarvonshire or Merionethshire or the Island of Anglesey.
I am researching my Parry ancestors in the Llangurig/Llanidloes area in the
old county of Montgomeryshire which is now Powys but there were no slate
quarries in that area.
