I have been asked to help identify the components of a coat of arms in the
hands of a Glamorgan FHS member, thought to be those of William Thomas of
Lan in the parish of Llangyfelach (mayor of Swansea 1877-78) or his
ancestors. All the components identified so far appear to be Welsh.
Is there anyone on the list with expertise in this area? Or with knowledge
of how to access 19th-century publications on genealogy of Welsh families?

The motto on the shield is 'Vim Repellam, Non Inferam'
