The following article appeared in the Saturday, 29 Dec 1888 edition of the Wilkes-Barre
(PA) Record newspaper. If you would like a copy of this obituary, please send me your

"Yesterday morning Mrs. Margaret Jordan, aged 66, wife of John F. Jordan, of 156
Scott Street, a blacksmith at the L.V. shops, died after a lingering illness. She had
been ailing for several years and for the past few months it was plain that her life was
slowly but surely ebbing away. She leaves a large family of adult children who are all
residents of this city. Mrs. Jordan was a consistent Christian and was a member of the
Franklin Street M.E. Church, her husband being one of the class leaders in the church.
The funeral will take place on Monday afternoon at 2:30, interment in Hollenback Cemetery.
Rev. Dr. A.H. Tuttle will officiate. Mrs. Jordan was a native of Neath Abbey, Wales, but
had been for many years a resident of this city, and her hosts of friends will mourn her
loss."
