Hi,
My e-mail program was apparently playing tricks on me when I tried to
send the message below a short time ago. Somehow, the address below had
been designated as my default account when it's supposed to be a
limited-use account. 8-( I've resolved the situation now, so hopefully
this one will get through to the list.
If it somehow appears twice, please disregard the one from
privatebox(a)mindspring.com. Thanks.
Richard

Subject: Help with Early Welsh info requested
Hello from southern Virginia,
I've just joined this group in the hope of finding more information
pertaining to my early Welsh ancestry.
Without referring to any of my files, I can't quote precise locations in
Wales [I *think* they might have been in Glamorgan], all I can explain
for the moment is the following:
The surname I'm researching is AUBREY or AWBREY and my ties to that
surname end in the 1700s, when a female AUBREY [I think her given name
was Martha, daughter of Chandler AUBREY] here in Virginia married into
another family [if I'm not mistaken, that family surname was PENDLETON].
Working backward from that woman, the family lineage appears to go back
well into the Medieval period [perhaps the 1100s or 1200s, in the form
of "de Sto. Awbrey" or "de Sto. Alberico"].
With that limited information in mind, I'd be interested in making
contact with anyone from this list who might live in Wales who could
help me track down further information, possibly to include photos of
appropriate Welsh locations [which I'll try to identify later, when I
can look at my records].
I hate being so vague about this sort of thing, but I haven't really
handled my genealogy files much since my Dad passed away almost five
years ago, so my memory of exact details is more than a little fuzzy.
However, I promise to dig into that information to look up details if
someone can help me.
Best wishes,
Richard B. Anderson, Jr., Danville, Virginia USA
