Hi Allan,
No unfortunately, wish it was as easy as that. Following a line of
Jennings, which may with a bit of luck turn out to be my husbands Great
Great Grandparents.
I posted to the Flintshire site a early last year, as I had not been able to
get past great grandparents from Gwennap Cornwall, and I had read somewhere
that sometimes as they were miners they wandered back and forth between
Cornwall & Wales.
I received some information from a gentleman claiming to have done a
research paper on Cornish Miners working for Welsh Mine owners in Halkyn.
He advised me that there was a Jonathan Jennings listed, who married a
Catherine Holman and had two sons Joseph & William. He also gave me
parents details - have not been able to trace them anywhere, and my sources
in Cornwall claim they do not know how he would have had access to this
information. I applied for a Marriage Bond, which tells us nothing - am
trying to determine if there is such a thing as a marriage certificate that
may have more detail. One lives in hope.
If they are the correct family, they surface again in Cornwall at the birth
of another son 1831, by 1841 Census there is no sign of this son or the
father, only a mother Catherine and two sons Joseph & William. We have a
marriage certificate for Joseph naming his parents as Jonathan & Catherine.
That is where we is at - thee old brick wall.
Hope your Parry's a lot more co-operative (LBG)
My ancestry is Welsh, and thankfully they handed down the information on
families etc. I have a photo of my great great grandmother hanging on the
wall - (dressed just like Queen Victoria) of which I am very proud. She
influenced her husband to migrate to Australia, so she would not have to see
him carried out of the mines. He died in a quarry accident in Victoria.
Fate?
Thanks for listening....................Have a good day, regards Coralj- Qld
