Dear Jeff,
Thankyou very much, and sorry about the mention of the PM.
I have seen on a Welsh language website where mention made of this Bynon,
spelt "Bynon", and noting that a history that has already been written on
him...will try to relocate that so that someone might be able to get access
to it for me.
The Wikpedia entry is incorrect for the mother of George Egerton as
well....she was either Isabel George Bynon, either James George Bynon's
sister, or niece, as I noted in my first email. Please see this brief
article:
"Bright, Mary Golding (1857-1945)
British short-story writer. Name variations: (pseudonyms) Mary Chavelita
Dunne, George Egerton. Born Dec 14, 1857, in Melbourne, Australia; died Aug
12, 1956, in Sussex, England; dau. of Captain John J. Dunne and Isabel
George Bynon; m. H.H.W. Melville (bigamist), 1888; m. Egerton Clairmonte
(writer), 1891 (div. 1901); m. Reginald Golding Bright (theater critic), ."
Thanks for the link to the East India company - I'll look that up...
Oh! And another thing - Bynon was used as a family name among Jane Bunster's
sister's offspring - and once again, it was Bynon not Beynon...
Best wishes and thanks again,
Carol Brill,
Melbourne, Vic., Australia.
