In
http://www.heavenandhelltogether.com/index.php?q=node/176 which I assume
is the web site either of yourself or a relative, there is mention that
James George Bynon served in the East India Company. There are very
extensive records of employees of the East India Company at the British
Library in London.

I note that the Spanish Wikipedia entry refers to registers of St Mary's,
Swansea with two possible baptisms, to William BYNON and Elizabeth DAVIES,
or to John Bynon and his wife.
The 'Cambrian Index' of the Swansea 19th-century newspaper has only 9 BYNON
entries but well over 1000 for BEYNON. I haven't found any relevant to your
man yet.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Egerton suggests that her mother's name
was Isabel GEORGE.

Subject: [WALES-GEN] Admiral James George Bynon
Dear All,
This is my first message to the list - I would like to discover what I can
on James George Bynon, who became a Vice Admiral in the Chilean Navy, and
later married a relative of mine, Jane Bunster, in Valparaiso, Chile in
1857. Jane was born in 1820 in Hobart, Tasmania, and after her father died
there she moved with a sister to join her two Bunster uncles and cousins
there.
According to the info. I have now - (using Spanish translations via Google
most of the time), James George was born in Swansea in 1798 and went to
sea in 1815 in the British navy.
I've come across a book on a Welsh language website that refers to Bynon's
history, but can't access it. Can anyone help?
Also, Admiral Bynon is referred to as either the uncle of, or the
grea-uncle of, the writer "George Egerton", born in Melbourne, Australia,
to Isabel George Bynon. Can anyone discover whether "George Bynon" was a
double-barrelled surname for the pair, and discover whether Isabel was
James Bynon's niece or brother? (Isabel was married to a Captain Dunn or
Dunne, and "George Egerton" was their daughter's alias when she published
her novels - they were a wee bit naughty for a woman of the era evidently,
so she used a male name...)
Lot's of questions here - and if you've any questions relating to
Tasmanian history, please ask - I'll be very happy to help if I can,
Best wishes,
Carol Brill,
Melbourne,
Vic., Australia.
(The country with a terrific Welsh-born female Prime Minister, Julia
Gillard!)
