I am trying to start to trace the family. This has been oan ongoing thing
for approximately five years but I get stuck at the same point and give up.
Go away and start again but just to come straight back to the same problem.
My Dad was Rpbert Henry Vaughan Resided in Middlesex and Hertfordshire b
1943 d 2002
His mum was Beatrice May Parry B abt 1913 (month for sure is Seotember and
it was towards the end of the month 26 - 29th September.
Here is where it all goes wrong. Beatrice died in 2004 after suffering a
stroke in 2002. She had already seen her son die in 2002 and her daughter in
law a month later. With her illness I felt that I culd not ask her all the
questions that I needed answer to.
Years earlier we thought nan said she was born and bought up in Penygroes
until coming to London in her early teens. However she tols us and dad
confirmed that she used to live in Thomas Street, Tonypandy. Dad went there
to live with her and her family when my grandad was in the war, so the story
goes.
Beatrice's fathers name was Robert Owen Parry and like a large number of the
community was a coal hewer at some stage. I know that he was living in
London by 1937 because of beatrices marriage certificate.
Dad had a cousin David Allen whom maybe had links with this area also.
There was some kind of split in the family when Beatrice was a little girl
but I do not know the details. I assume that either the her father or mother
left the marriage, possibly they both had new relationships.
Beatrice had brothers but I think that they were step brothers. One brother
was Tommy and he died quite a few years back. there was another brother
called danny. I don't know why but the surname chapman keeps haunting me at
night. Danny also had a son called Danny so I remember.
I have two lovely photos of these chaps, one in a sailors uniform and I know
he was in Hing Kong in 1927 because it states it on the back of the photo.I
have another photo of a Danny in uniform dated 1944 dressed in white with
three stripes down his left arm wearing a dashing cap. What I don't know is
if they are the same person or father and son.
It is all very confusing.
I have searched for Robert Owen Parry that could be Beatrices father and
there is a list of a marriage in 1903 in Merthyr Tydfil I have yet to get
the full information until I am at least 50 percent certain it could be him.
I have searched the kelly's directory 1895 and there was a Miss Parry of 90
Thomas Street Merthyr Tydfil but how she would fit into the eqaution I do
not know.
If anyone had any informatin on Thomas Street, Tonypandy and who lived there
or how I can trace this please let me know. If anyone remembers back that
far to the 1940's and remembers beattie and her son Robert in that area or
remembers Robert Parry or poss a Chapman connection it would be great.
Unfortunaltely I am at a great disadvantage with not being able to locate
her birth certificate. There is a listed Beatrice M Parry born in Merthyr
Tydfil but this was in 1915. I am beginning to think this is where she was
born and that Robert originated from there and that something happened and
they did in fact move. I know there is a definate trace to Thomas Street,
Tonypandy. Dada took mum there to show her how steep the street was and
where they came from shortly before his death.
Any help greatly appreciated
