From Wilkes Barre Record, Tuesday, 27 May 1890, Page 4
At 10 oclock yesterday morning a miner named Isaac Thomas, aged 26 years,
who worked with two others in a gangway in Dodson colliery, No. 12, was
yesterday engaged in fixing a prop in the centre of the gangway for safety,
when a mass of coal suddenly collapsed. Thomas was caught by it and both
legs were fractured. He lived with his sister, Mrs. David Price, who was in
Wilkes-Barre with her husband and daughter when the sad news reached her.
Deceased was a young man highly respected in the community. He was a member
of the American Protestant Association and was a native of Rhandirmwyn. The
society will meet at their all at 1 oclock to-morrow to attend the funeral
in a body. Interment will be at Wilkes-Barre.
