Hello List,
I am hoping there is someone that may know anything about a Professional Golf Player named
Peter Paxton that came to Griffin, Conwy, Wales, UK about 1912.
Although he was born in Musselburgh, Midlothian, Scotland in 1857 he moved to England in
the early 1880's to Play Professional Golf he also made Golf Clubs and made Golf
Balls. Most of his family were Professional Golf Players or Makers of sorts.
My Own Great Grandfather James Paxton born 1860 in Musselburgh, he was also a Professional
Golf player and Golf Ball Maker he was Peter Paxton's brother They all played Golf
along with their father also James Paxton born 1830 in Musselburgh, Scotland.
I had heard that Peter Paxton lived in Griffin, Conwy, Wales with his wife Margaret Jane
Lear and Daughters Margaret Jane, Maude and Dorothy Paxton and had a son named Victor
Paxton. Peter Paxton and daughter Maude both died within a short space of time, but do not
have any exact info when. Peter Paxton's granddaughter Joan, Winfield only gave me the
information she knew, as she has not been researching into her Paxton's very Long.
Joan told me she thinks her grandfather Peter Paxton and her aunt Maude Paxton died in the
1920's. She thinks her aunt was born in 1912 at Chapel Town, Leeds, Yorkshire,
England, UK And died aged 14 in Griffin, Conwy,Wales.
Peter Paxton died just after that of a broken heart.
Has anyone seen a death for a Maude Paxton aged 14 and a Peter Paxton aged about 69 around
the middle 1920's in Conwy, Wales please.
Thank you in advance for any information I might receive.
Kind Regards
Pamela J Groves
