Hello
I'm used to having most of my ancestors staying in one place, and
do not know if the following is possible (well, of course it's POSSIBLE,
but is it likely? I need to get a good map of the area as well!)
1837 - Edward Morris marries Mary Hughes in the registration district of
Machynlleth.
1843 - Their child is born in Oswestry
1844 - Edward dies in either registration district of Llanfyllin or
Oswestry
1846 - Mary, Edward's widow, marries Peter Jones in the registration
district of Shrewsbury
Can someone tell me what villages these registration districts cover?
I'm especially interested in Machynlleth. I'm wondering if I should
order the marriage certificate and hope that it is my Edward Morris and
Mary Hughes, or keep searching until 1842. I know my ggg grandfather
(prob. Edward) died young and his widow remarried, and that my gg
grandfather adopted the name Jones, suggesting he was quite young at the
time of his mother's re-marriage. That's what I've heard through the
family, and so far they have been bang on accurate.
By the way - thank you everyone who sent me a welcome. It was
appreciated!
