Thanks for the help Graham, it is most appreciated, As I am in Kent,

would I be able to find the copies of Variety here??
I have searched quite a few of the ships passenger lists to see if she
travelled by ship, but to no avail, though i have a few more to go.

I'm sure that if you contacted the largest library in your county at your
capital city (I haven't looked to see what that is) you would find someone
with quite a bit of knowledge there who could give you the information you
require. The again, if you do happen to draw a blank, try the British
Museum Library -they have immense resources. If you can't find them on the
internet, and indeed they might not want folk to email them as they may be
understaffed, write a letter explaining your problem. But, I think it is
more than likely that the British Museum Library has old copies of "Variety."
You could also try the Society of Genealogists for information, though no
doubt they would want you to pay for anything you want. Nevertheless, worth
a try.
Might also be worth while looking on the internet via the "google" search
machine for a site that has access to old records such as Variety - try
under publications, magazines, etc. Again, get into American libraries via
the internet and see what they can do for you. There may even be a website
that specializes in old performers! Look under musical halls, etc.
Go, go
Best wishes
