"Warrior Run is in a state of excitement over the accidental death of one of her most
esteemed young men, Evan Williams. He had been working in the garden all forenoon and
after eating dinner left with a number of companions to fish in the Susquehanna river near
Dundee shaft. While trying to enter the boat he missed his hold and went down head first
and did not rise again. It is supposed that his head caught in some brush. The body was
taken out of the water a few minutes after he went down, but life was extinct. In less
than one hour after he left home word was received that he was drowned. He was the son of
William T. Williams and was one of the most popular young men of that place. He was 18
years and 8 months of age, and was born in Merthyr Tidvill, South Wales. He is survived
by his father and step-mother, the latter having raised him from infancy. He is also
survived by one sister, Mrs. Thomas Thomas; four step-sisters, Martha, Mary, Sarah and
Catherine, and two half brothers, Isaac and William. He was an earnest Christian all his
life and was an active member of the First Baptist Church for several years. He was also
janitor of the above named church."
