Hi,
I have the 1881 Census and can try an advance search if your family was
living in Wales when the census was taken.
It may just work if you have the name of parents and some children unless of
course the surname is Jones, Davies or one of the other very popular ones.
There is also the rootsweb lists for surnames which are worth a try at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~maillist/
You must also access the IGI typing in the names and Wales at
www.familysearch.org
and also try
http://www.genuki.org.uk/
I think you are going to find it difficult without any clues to the area
unless you have a very rare surname to research. You could start by posting
you interests on this list and I will try the advance search on the 1881
Census if your ancestors were in Wales then.
Regards,
Margaret Harvey

Subject: [WALES-GEN] General Question
Can someone tell me how I go about finding ancestors in Wales when I
have
no
idea where they are from? Most web sites have counties or whatever
you
have
to pick from and the only information I have is "Wales".
Thanks for any
help on this general question. rj
