Subject: [WALES-GEN] David Ap Jevan (Evans) ca. 1550
Dear List members,
I have recently discovered a genealogical chart of the family of the
Barons
Carbery of County Cork in Ireland, who descended from John Evans of
Limerick. The chart shows the Welsh ancestry of John, which begins with a
certain David ap Jevans, who married Margaret VERCH LEWIS AP RHYS,
probably
in the late 1500s. David's father was Jevan Ap Thomas, and his mother was
Gwenllian Verch Rhydderch ap Rhys.
I do not know where the family originated in Wales. However, the chart
shows
a descendency passing through Elystan Glodrydd and extending into the
early
first millennium.
Can anyone who is familiar with early Welsh genealogies indicate a
published
or original source for this genealogical chart. Or more modestly, how
would
I identify the original home of David Ap Jevan?
Sincerely,
Roy Keys in Montreal
