Peter this is fantastic THANK YOU so much. Yes the girl's name in the book
was Davies, Beryl to be exact and she had written the date 1945. Her
husband told me that this date was 12 yrs prior their marriage. He also
told me that DAVIES is pronounced DAVIS in Wales, correct??????

Purchased a book at a local yard Sale this morning and inside was
name and
address of girl who had owned the book. Would someone be able to clarify
for me the following? Bailey Bedw(?)Farm, St. Harmons, Rhayaden,
Radnorshire, Wales...Need clarification of the word Bedw. Does this place
still exist and if so would it be possible to get a picture of Bailey
Bedw(?) Farm. I found it amazing that this young lady brought this book
with her to Canada. It must have meant something special. It turned out
that the elderly gentleman holding the yard sale was the widower and his
wife died last year. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

Hi Ellen,
It appears that the address you have is a farm. The full address is:
Bailey Bedw
St Harmon
Rhayader
Powys
LD5 5LG
The county is now Powys due to a change of local government.
Google came up with
http://demserv.powys.gov.uk/welsh/election/2004/bandrcomm/poll/nop%20contest
ed%20communities.pdf
Which shows that a certain Edwin Granville Price DAVIES was living in
the property when he stood for election in the St Harmon Community
Council election in 2004.
A search on the on-line BT telephone directory at
http://www.bt.com/index.jsp shows that a E.G.P. Davies still lives at
the address.
I wonder if he may be related to the owner of the book you purchased?
It's possible as there is a tendency for farms to pass down the
generations in Wales.
Cheers
Peter
