"Yesterday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock nearly 2,000 friends of the late Professor
Edward Price assembled in the neighborhood of his residence in Plymouth to manifest their
tribute of esteem to the memory of the man who had for thirteen years worked so hard in
musical circles.
[Several paragraphs concerning the details of the funeral follow. Shows interment took
place in Shawnee Cemetery.]
"Deceased is survived by his wife and three young children; a brother, Thomas Price,
and his father, Edward P. Price, of Llamidloes, Wales. He was born in Swansee, Wales, in
1868, and came to the United States in 1888. He was a musician of rare ability and when
in health his services were always in demand. When a boy of 13 he won a prize for a piano
solo at the Carnarvon eisteddfod and after coming to the United States was engaged as
teacher in the towns of Wyoming Valley. He was for several seasons pianist in Music Hall,
Wilkes-Barre, and was also engaged for several summers at Atlantic City and later at Coney
Island. The late Gwilym Gwent and deceased were great friends, and when the late composer
had a new creation it was Professor Price who was first asked to produce it. He has been
for over a decade accompanist for the Plymouth choral societies, and was a general
favorite in music circles throughout the valley. His presence will not only be missed in
his own immediate locality, but by hundreds of friends in Wyoming and Lackawanna
valleys."
