"The funeral of John Davies, rear of Sheridan street, took place yesterday. The body
was taken to the church and Rev. W.J. Richards officiated. Deceased left a wife and two
sons. Mr. Davies traveled in many of the Western States but he had settled at Wanamie and
for a number of years lived on the Heights. He was a faithful member of the Welsh
Congregational Church of the Heights and a member of the Golden Chain, No. 322, of
Wanamie. He was a native of Llanelly, Carmarthenshire, Wales, and died at the age of 60
years. The pall bearers were from the Golden Chain lodge: John Hibbert, Benjamin Cross,
William Morgans, Frederick Kriete, William Williams and John Blaylock, of Wanamie."
