"Mrs. Mercer Drew, a well known resident of Lambert street, died on Saturday morning,
after a long illness. Mrs. Drew was about 35 years of age. She was a daughter of Richard
Jeffries, one of the oldest residents of this city. When about 5 years of age she came
here from her native place, Bonte, Wales, and resided here since. She is survived by her
husband and the following children: Ruth, Hattie and Charles; also by the following
brothers and sisters: Miss Martha, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Fred Koch, Thomas of Oregon, and
William B. at home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and of Washburn Temple,
Ladies of the Golden Eagle. The funeral will be held to-day at 2 o'clock. Services
at the Water Street Baptist Church. Interment in Pittston Cemetery."
