Dear Cliff,
I am just sending this from the 1881 Census on the off chance that it is
your William although as you gave no details of his family it is hardly
likely. It could be that he was still in Wales in 1881 so I will look
further on that census if you give me the ages of Thomas and Eliza and any
other information you have such as her place of birth. You will note that
this William was not married and neither was Elizabeth although she has two
children.
I have looked in my Placename Index to the 1891 Census for Wales and there
isn't an entry for Pontwymie or anything close. There is a Pontymoile in
Monmouthshire and also a Pontnewyndd and Pontardawe in Glamorganshire. It
could be that Pontwymie was just a very small place with a few houses and
came under a parish with a different name.

Subject: [WALES-GEN] Thomas Williams Born about 1846
Dear list,
The father of my grand-mother Sarah Ann Williams was Thomas Williams.
The 1901 census indicated he lived at 24 Goodfellow Street Tunstall,
Stoke-on-Trent, and married Eliza.
His place of birth looks like " Pontwymie", Wales.
I'd be grateful if any one can suggest where this place is in Wales.
Cheers
Cliff
