To All who have replied to my inquery about irish immigration into Wales
in the mid 1805's, I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you!
You've been most helpful and I hope further analysis and research will
lead to fulfilling a 25 year search for my McCarthy ancestors.
Aagin, Thank You very much.

I don't have any specific information about Irish
migration into Wales, but the following is a
helpful site that dicusses emigration from Wales
in the 19th century -

I have been on the Glamorgan list for a few
months now, and there is alot of info on that
list about many topics including this -
Glamorgan, according to the above site, was one
of two areas (the other being Monmouth) that was
the source of the majority of migration from
Wales. Glamorgan was also a big mining area - if
your folks were miners, that increases the odds.
Within Glamorgan, Merthyr Tydfil was apparently
more tolerant of people from different areas of
the world - Irish, Italian and Jewish were
mentioned. Apparently that tolerance didn't
exist everywhere in Glamorgan.
Two listers on the GLAM list - Gaerth (last name
I can't recall) and John Ball each have their own
sites which I don't have, but you can access
through that list - those two folks are on the
list almost every day and their site address is
at the bottom of their messages.
