leLIEVRE { Leavre; Lavers } Origins
Claim of connection, must be proven first !
As I mentioned before, I have a lot names, some 20,000-25,000.
Mostly Lavers and Abbot(t) {Shepperd}. Since I have these names,
most are not typed out in my Family Tree Maker program yet.
I'll attempt to type out some of these connections below. Most of my
information comes from several families in England, Canada, United States
--- France. It starts in an old private family Bible.
There were 3 or 4 brothers. Said to have been descended from a family of
Teutonic Knights in armour. The only Knights I can find so far, are the
de LEVIS of Europe. Situated in France.
About 1383, some of them were to go to England. Instead, they were detained,
and went to Greece then Italy. It is said, they may have then went to, that
which is now called Nova Scotia. Between 1385-1453. Before Columbus
or Cabot. About 1535-1560, 2 or 3 of these brothers went to England.
One went to Cornwall. Another went to Devonshire, England.
Another to Leicestershire to Somerset, England ( Glastonbury tor region ).
Christopher Lavers was around 16 years age, born about 1556 :
still with his parents. He had an unknown named older brother,
born about 1554. It is said, he went to England.
( There may have been other sons/daughters -
brothers/sisters with Christopher ).
Around 1572, they were falsely placed amongst the Huguenots.
It is remembered that this family, during the night, escaped this
persecution in an unknown size, fishing boat, with that which they
could pile into it. They then came to, Jersey, within the
British Channel Islands.
It is said, his/their father/mother died around 1615, and is buried on
Jersey. The name de Levis, or whichever, vanished.
As of yet, I can find no Lavers in the Channel Islands.
I have found a matching name : liLievre, leLievre, Leavre
A Richard C. Leavre b. abt. 1569 St. Martin, Jersey.
He married Laurance Aubin ( b. abt. 1573 St. Martin, Jersey )
on May 15, 1597 - St. Martin, Jersey.
They had a son named Philippe C. Leavre b. abt. 1608
St. Saviour, Jersey. He married Susanne Aubin ( bapt. Nov. 13,1614
St. Saviour ) on Dec. 4, 1633.
I have to find out, if the C. in Richard C. means Christopher.

William George and brother James John ( with wife and children -
and whoever else ) - were working for the Hudson Bay Shipping
Company. They came across that Atlantic Ocean, something about
a wrecked vessel in Quebec, CANADA.
{ This is curious, Francois de Levis was in Quebec, under orders. }
Instead, they ran aground within the straits of Bell Island, and went
to French Cove, NFLD. They went to Nova Scotia. William George
stayed there. James John went to Port Saunders.
Later on he returned to England.
8) John LAYVES (Layvis, Livis, Leavis, Leavers, Lavers) stayed in NFLD.
He married Eleanor Byrne August 22, 1818. and had:
i. Alban LEAVIS {Lavers) b. Wales d. Point Riche (Port au Croix),
NFLD. He married Amelia {Emily, Mildred} Marie YOUNG (leJeune)

9) most all Lavers, whichever way spelt came from John LAYVES.
Some went to Nova Scotia. Up until now.
10) Alban Leavis had William Jesse Lavers, who had Alban Lavers (Levis)
( married Mary Jennifer Frampton ) - they had: Margaret G. Lavis
with Ralph Shepperd ( his grandmother was the Abbott)
followed by: myself - William Michael Ralph Lavis.
This is how far I can go for now. Until, I have typed it out in my
Family Tree Maker 2005 - version 12.0.
