There is some information on Washington folk on the NAIL site:

For example, the list of Army and Army Air Force personnel killed and
missing in WW2 is by county. It gives rank and serial number and also
differentiates between those who died in battle and those who died of other
causes. I found my cousin Gilbert RISE listed under Okanogan County.
There are some photographs on NAIL (e.g. Frank Matsura) and some
illustrations from the 1860s, as well as references to other material in
the NARA.
