Mike,
I looked at the banners the other day when the first message was sent
out and I think if our county has to have one that it should show all
the names so there is less confusion.
It is hard to explain to my Wahkiakum County Historical Society board
members that the genealogy information we (I provide as coordinator) is
on the
www.usgenweb.com when the Wahkiakum County home page shows up as
www.rootsweb.com. It has taken me over two years to convince the
Historical Society that history/genealogy go hand in hand and that is
why we don't shove documents into a drawer not to be indexed or seen
because the Society doesn't know what to do with them. Genealogists
would never do that. Another volunteer and I don't open a drawer until
I'm ready to deal with the documents inside though because it can be
overwhelming to think about all the potential genealogy information just
sitting there.

"In terms of specific timeframes, we are still finalizing
plans but I expect the masthead inclusion to happen later
than the March 15th date we initially discussed. We want
to make sure that there is appropriate time to clearly
communicate with everyone and answer questions. We are
also working to find a solution to allow web masters to
change their masthead preference on multiple pages without
having to edit each one. This is a convenience we'd
really like to add before implementing the mastheads if we
can. So again, based on this I expect the date to be
later than March 15th. I hope to finalize plans in the
next couple days so that we can communicate a more
realistic date to you."
Thanks,
David Graham
