Susan if you want to edit and see what it did without having to send
it to the FTP server get yourself a cheap or free Web Editor Program
that way you can mess around with it but you can see what effect your
last edit had on it.
i use one called FreeEdit it can be found at:
www.flash.net/~slhath
you can use notebook and all you need to do is be online so you can
use your
browser but with FreeEdit you dont have to be online to work.
Im not really sure what your attempting to do if you want send me a
copy of the page and what you wanted to do maybe i can send you some
pointers on it.
Steve
Hi again.
I've never used anything but a text editor; never felt the need or was
interested in the features they offer, and didn't like the look of the
page sources they produce, so with that disclaimer, here's a
suggestion:
Use a file:// URL in your browser to see on your machine changes you're
making, without having to go through an upload 'n' download.
For example, the home page of the Chelan County site has the original
name "index.html". If I change it, I can then open it in my browser
using
file:///boot/R4.5/GenWeb/Chelan/index.html
Of course, the paths to your files will contain your folder names, and
if you're using micro$oft Winders, you probably have to use '\' after
the file:// part of the URL where I use '/' in my Be Operating System,
which is like UNIX (in that respect).
At any rate, you probably don't need another tool just to view a page
locally.
Regards,
John
