I'm Alice Allen, my county in WA is Clark County, and I also have a county in Kansas
& 2 in Ohio that I am CC for. I have been a part of this project since 1996. I have
research interests in the 3 other counties; we are our "Clark County ancestors"
(except for an uncle by marriage). But I live here, and when I noticed it was available
I quickly swooped it up, thinking I could sure be of more help with the resources at my
fingertips. Fortunately, the Clark Co. Genealogical Society has done many publications to
make this much easier.
A few years ago I became active in the Genealogical Society, and am now a volunteer
librarian (minimum of 2 shifts a month), Accessions director (meaning I enter new books
into the computer and get the labels on them so they can go on the shelf); and recently
became the Research Correspondant for the CCGS.
As to time for personal research? Well, isn't that what those hours between midnight
and 2 a.m. are good for? Fortunately I can get by on 5-6 hours of sleep, so a couple
times a week I try to do a little research online of my own, apart from working on my
counties.
I used an alias once--in real life, when I was a reservations agent for Republic Airlines
in Seattle. I answered a call as "Mrs. Allen" like I usually do, and heard a
travel agent tell someone in the background she was speaking to someone named
"Allen," but it didn't sound like a man. After we chuckled over that one
(she thought I said "this is Allen"), I adopted my daughter Heather's name
for work purposes. "Heather Allen" came across the phone wires much more
clearly than "Mrs. Allen."
