Hi John,
Yes, there is a lot to learn as a US GenWeb County Coordinator. That is
what this list is for, in part. Messages such as the one you responded to
serve to refresh the memory of the older coordinators, and to instruct and
train the newer ones, in how our system is designed to work.
In Washington, as in the majority of states in the project, we have split
responsibility. The State Coordinator (Celia) is responsible for the state
webpage, the 39 county webpages, this list, and the selection of county
coordinators. The State Archive Manager (me) is responsible for the state
Archive webpage, the 39 county Archive webpages, and all matters within WA
GenWeb related to the acquisition and online posting of data submitted to
any part of the project. I am also responsible for ensuring that all parts
of the Washington project are in compliance with the copyright laws and
USGW copyright policies. In addition to the above, I am also State
Coordinator of the USGW Tombstone Transcription Project. It is both our
shared responsibilities to assist and instruct our county coordinators in
doing the work of USGW and in best serving the genealogical community.
Just as properly designed county pages, such as your excellent ones in
your four counties, link to the datafiles USGW holds and displays in the
Archives, the county Archive pages link back to the county GenWeb pages,
for better service to our public. It is obvious that any change in the
county page URL must be given me to update these pages just as it is given
Celia to update the state GenWeb page.
Thank you,
Kevin Fraley (Swimref(a)cmc.net)

Well, okay, but I can't be reminded of something I didn't know in the
first place. Since there's no WAGenWeb page of Do's and Don't for CC
volunteers, but there is
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wagenweb/cos3.htm,
could/should you and Celia arrange for her to notify you when changes are
made to it? If that won't work, could we please have a page to hold
things we CC's are to keep in mind?
