I agree. If this is something new it should be voted upon, not TOLD to us.
I don't think Kevin, or any one else for that matter, should make the
decision "who is interested" in what. We volunteer to be the coordinators
for our counties, to maintain our websites, to gather new data, to answer
queries to spread ourselves among all of the counties which we maintain and
now someone suddenly is going to tell us who is INTERESTED enough! I don't
think so! I for one am active in many things in the genealogical community
including maintaining five counties, fifteen mail lists, teaching genealogy
(for free), teaching internet research (for free), doing lookups for 20+
counties and family associations, recording cemeteries, and many more . I
also work 40 hours a week and am a mother, grandma and wife. Who is to say
what I am interested in? Definitely not Kevin! If you are suddenly going
to change policy and makeup new positions, then it had better be done with a
vote!

Subject: [WAGEN-L] the ACC???
Hi Gang
I really don't understand what's going on here.... The creation of
Archive County Co-ordinator... who according to Kevin
"The County Archive Coordinator will be responsible for the
collection,
receipt, and online display of all genealogical or historical data
collected, received, or displayed by the USGW project relating to their
assigned county. "
Since Rootsweb has "given" us all the GenConnect to handle the
queries,
obits, biographies, etc. and etc. and now the "Archive CC"
will be
responsible for "all genealogical or historical data" where does that put
the original CC. You know, the ones who use to handle stuff like the
queries and maintained the websites, and gathered info and co-ordinated
research.
According to Kevin... the ACC should be the CC but
" In those counties where the County GenWeb Coordinator is not interested
or suitable, I (Kevin) will open the position up to volunteers from the
general genealogical community."
So Kevin gets to pick the ACC??? and Kevin gets to decide if someone is
'suitable'
Is this something we voted on the postition of ACC.???
Did I miss something??? Is this a policy change???
You bet I'm very confused...
