Visit historic Leavenworth County, Kansas.
North of Kansas City, Missouri on the Kansas side of the Missouri River
is the home of Ft. Leavenworth. Ft. Leavenworth attracted many early
settlers to Kansas, as well as being a jumping off point for adventurers
& pioneers heading west.
Leavenworth was a busy riverboat city and was the home of William
"Buffalo Bill" Cody, whose father is buried in Leavenworth County. Also
in Leavenworth County is the Leavenworth National Cemetery and the
Eisenhower Veterans Center (formerly Wadsworth Veteran Hospital).
