I know they are just misprints, but for the benefit of the others reading
the message, Lewis County was actually formed in 1845, from Vancouver
County, later renamed to Clark. Lewis County therefore has the oldest name
of any Washington County.
The famous free black pioneer was George W. Bush, who quickly moved on
from Centralia to become one of the original founders of the first American
settlement on Puget Sound, at Tumwater, then in Lewis County.
