The Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society and Skagit Valley
Genealogical Society are selling their Every Name Index for the 1906 "An
Illustrated History of Skagit and Snohomish Counties, Washington. It is
only 12 dollars and is an every name index. 146 pages ... just huge... and
complete.
Now the really good news they are also reprinting ' the 1906
Illustrated History ...etc. etc. .' as two volumes. If you have any kind
of Snohomish or Skagit families...this is probably a must for you... If you
contact either one of the two societies before July 1 you can get the
discount price of 135.00 for the books and index. (they are not making much
of a profit of these hummers... it is a service.) I can't tell you what an
investment owning these books will (be.check out ebay <grin>)
The bad news... they are NOT PRINTING LOTS OF EXTRA ONES.
They are talkin' 10 copies each society and of course for much more money.
Now think... There are at least 3 Family History Centers that could
use a copy. And the different Museums that would profit from owning a
copy....
So who to contact... snail mail

And one last word of good news. I got a copy of the index...and will do
free look ups. NO I don't have the big book yet... It is ordered...

Subject: [WASHINGTON-L] History of Skagit and Snohomish Counties
Hello,
We have recently received and put online an alphabetized surname
index
to the 1906 county history "The History of Skagit and Snohomish
Counties."
The file is listed on both the Skagit County GenWeb Archives page
http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/wa/skagit/skagit.htm and the Snohomish
County GenWeb Archives page
http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/wa/snohomish/snohomsh.htm or can be
accessed directly at
ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/wa/snohomish/history/sksnhind.txt
A few days after this index went online, I learned (on the psroots
list) that two local societies in the two counties were republishing the
original history, and had created an extensive index from it, and were
selling both. Although the work we have online was done independently of
this, I added a notice that these publications were available through
these
societies.
Thank you,
Kevin Fraley
Manager, WA GenWeb Archives
