The Eastside Genealogical Society and the South King County Genealogical
Society are jointly sponsoring a one-day genealogy
seminar, RootsSearch I, on Saturday, September 7, 2002. The seminar is
from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at McKnight Middle
School, 1200 Edmonds Avenue NE, Renton, WA.
Keynote speaker for the seminar will be George Ott from Heritage
Consulting and Services in Salt Lake City. Mr. Ott is a
popular speaker at genealogical conferences around the country and is
also featured in two segments in the latest production of the
PBS acclaimed series, Ancestors. His topics for the seminar include
Military Records, Court Records, and Understanding the
Family History Library in Salt Lake City.
Other speakers for the day include Connie and Gerald Lenzen of Portland
Oregon, and Char Kibbie of Kent. Connie Lenzen
will speak on Church Records for the Genealogist, and on Proving a
Maternal Line. Ms. Lenzen is a Certified Genealogical Record
Specialist and the winner of the 1995 Award of Excellence from the
National Genealogical Society Quarterly. Gerald Lenzen is
president of the statewide Genealogical Council of Oregon and has been

this seminar will be Footprints of our Wanderers (America back to
Germany). Char Kibbie teaches an elective genealogy course for
the Kent School District and has been a speaker for several genealogical
