Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Virtual Tour #32 Rio Blanco Co Colorado
http://www.rootsweb.com/~coriobla
In 1938, Rio Blanco was rated as the fourth largest county in the
state of Colorado.
Rio Blanco has a colorful and unique history of any county in the
state. It has been claimed by five countries: France, Spain, Mexico,
Texas, and the United States.
Rio Blanco County was formed from the northern portion of
Garfield County. The bill for Rio Blanco was signed into law March
1889. It had taken four years, three different bids for a county, and
a name change, before it was enacted. The original name proposed was
Sherman County, and was turned down in favor of Rio Blanco (White
River.) Meeker was designated as the county seat.

Please pass this on to your state lists. To request a new USGenWeb Project
account on RootsWeb, County Coordinators need to go to
<http://cgi.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/acctform.cgi> and complete the form.
If anyone has a county request that hasn't been completed now, they should
resubmit as all the requests I have at this time are caught up.
Thanks!

Two posting...one day
The following is self explainitory. It was sent to by Cyndi to the the
PS-List.
I've been messing with it for a while. Like always when Cyndi suggests
something it pays to follow that suggestion.
The sad part. I just extracted the place names of Skagit County to
my webpage...and all I needed was the following urls...
Cyndi said:
Hi folks -
Jumping late into the conversation with little time to read each
message, but wanted to be sure everyone knew about the following
database online:
Washington Place Names Database
http://www.tpl.lib.wa.us/nwr/wanames.htm
This is on the Tacoma Public Library web site and pertains to
Washington state.
Also be sure to visit this site when you have time:
1895 U.S. Atlas
http://www.LivGenMI.com/1895.htm
"I entered data from the 1895 World Atlas into table format so
those cities which someone cannot find in the 1880 census or the
1900 census, may be found here. I have already helped a number of
people who post queries to the various lists with where were
certain cities were at the time? Some cities changed names about
this time and this data will show the new names. This table shows
the city, state, population, area the county lies in the state,
whether or not they have a Post Office, R.R. station or an Express
Office and if they are a county seat. If a city is a county seat it
will be in CAPS."

Dickens County Texas
http://www.rootsweb.com/~txdicken
Where in the Dickens is Dickens? Drop by and see!
This is cowboy country, known for it's ranching. Dickens County was home
to several of the old ranching outfits. The Pitchfork Ranch is over 100
years old and has a museum to visit.
We are proud of our county courthouse that is over 100 years old. Our
jail still has the original hangman's trap door.
When you step into Dickens, Texas it is like stepping back in time.
Nobody gets in a hurry in Dickens and we like it that way. Our rustic
setting and red cedar hills give a mountain atmosphere and from the
hilltops you can see for miles over the canyons - a breath taking site.
The towns of Dickens County consist of Dickens, Spur, Afton below the
caprock and at the top of the cap is McAdoo.
Welcome to Dickens County - Enjoy your visit!

I'm sorry.. my ISP was offline for an hour or so..
I had to ask someone to forward several messages.. and I think
that this is what you are asking me to clarify..
I am asking for a liason person from each state. I intended to send
the message to this list.. Bill sent it to the SCs in his region, just
beating me to it, and I have NO problem with that.. I'm sure glad
(and proud) that he is part of the Election committee!
The the state liason people will NOT have anything to do with
tallying the votes. They will only help in collecting and processing
the Voters LISTS.. They will be part of the Election committee.
We will use the same UseVote software that we used in the last
election.. The software will tally these votes......NO ONE will have
access to these votes, no one will know how anyone voted.

P.S.
I forgot. Would someone, a CC, like to volunteer to participate in the
election process? I think all you have to do is count votes and email the
results. Your name will be sent to the board committee and they will give
you more instructions. Let me know if you are interested.
Celia
Hi all,
Once again this year, I think I am about to get onto an even keel and be
able to catch up with the world.
For now, please check our address page at:
http://www.rootsweb.com/~wagenweb/cos3.htm
to see if your name and email are correct and that you are listed with the
correct counties. I have not made correction for some time and there are
changes and corrections to be done. As usual I am checking on this so
you will be a legal voter for the new national coordinator.
If you are not getting enough info on this let me know.
Please make a quick response so I know you are alive and well. If I don't
hear from you I will assume your email is not working and will try to
track you down.
I will be talking to the few who have yet to put the correct state and/or
national logos on at least their front page.
I'll be back later,
Celia Tomlin

Hey ! Hey! Come one come all to;
Saline County http://www.rootsweb.com/~nesaline
Saline county Nebraska is located approximately 40 miles
southwest of Lincoln.
This is one of the counties where the wagon trails are still
embedded into the landscape from the early settlers.
We have history of each town, one complete cemetery listing.
There is still history being written here about the flour mills and
the generating plants built on several dams on the Blue river. Come
check out the different ethnic peoples that make up the immigrants .
Check out memories of Tobias. Check out a 1866 ships passenger list
from the North German Lloyds Line. Check out the 1880 county
statistics for the value of land and taxes during that period.

McLean County Kentucky
http://www.atlcom.net/~lecgbe/index.html
Visit the people and history of McLean County in western Kentucky!
The site includes scenes of McLean past and present, a Friendship Quilt
that is also a genealogical document and of course plenty of family
history information. The McLean County Life page is designed for
information from each of the communities in the county. The page
includes early photos, a link to information about a yearly Civil War
Reenactment
and a few interesting stories such as one about a Preacher winning a
gunfight. Links include news articles on a local historical artist and
the Official Historian of McLean County. The McLean KYGenWeb site
includes interesting and valuable information such as census microfilm
numbers, county lines before 1854 when the county was formed and links
to the Kentucky Biographies project.
