Members of the USGenWeb Project Advisory Board Members,
I have some concerns about the following message I received today.
1 - This is the first indication I have ever heard that there was an
election pending for a County Coordinator Representative.
2 - The individuals on the ballot were not identified, nor previously
introduced.
3 - I am only allowed to vote once, even though I coordinate 3 counties.
4 - A website for one of these candidates, indicating knowledge of this
election, and reasons why I should vote for him/her, has been online since 1
January.
5 - For us poor troops in the trenches, what does the Northeast/North
Central CC Representative do?
6 - The 'neutral' third-party conducting the election is not identified. Not
something to instill confidence in the system.
I would suggest postponing the election until the following has occurred:
1 - a notification that such an election will occur
2 - an explanation of the position's tasks
3 - an identification of the candidates, and an opportunity for them to
'campaign'
4 - a 'popular vote' on who gets to vote (i.e. one vote per person or
one vote per county)
5 - a 'popular vote' on whether write-in candidates will be accepted.
Regards,
Tom Ledoux
Essex, Franklin and Grand Isle Counties Coordinator for VtGenWeb.

Representative
CORRECTED BALLOT for
The USGenWeb Election
for
County Coordinator Representative
Northeast/North Central Region
Votes must be received by 23:59:59 EDT January 30th 1999
The previous ballots for the Northeast/North Central CC Election had
serious errors in them. To ensure the legitimacy of the election, we
will have to discard *all* votes for this election and start over.
If you have already voted in the NE CC Election, please submit a new
vote using this corrected ballot. We're very sorry for the
inconvenience!
This vote is being conducted by a neutral third party. For questions

HOW TO VOTE
You will be voting for ONE County Coordinator Representative.
Erase everything above the top "-=-=-=-" line and erase everything
below the bottom "-=-=-=-" line. Do not erase anything between these
lines and do not change the names.
Place the word YES in the brackets next to the name of the candidate
that you wish to vote for. Only use the word "YES" -- don't put
anything else in the ballot, such as the letter "Y" or an "X". If
you
do not want to vote for a particular person, just leave the space
blank. Do not worry about spacing of the columns or any quote
characters (">") that your reply inserts.
Then mail the ballot to: vote-ne-cc(a)usgenweb.org
Just Replying to this message should work.

You may also ABSTAIN in place of YES - this will not affect the outcome.
Anything else may be rejected by the automatic vote counting program. The
votetaker will respond to your received ballots with a personal
acknowledgement by mail - if you do not receive one within several days,
try
again. It's your responsibility to make sure your vote is
registered
correctly.
Only one vote per person, no more than one vote per account.
Vote totals for each candidate will be published in the final
voting results list.
