Folks,
John Paquet, of Tucson, Arizona, has kindly offered to do World War I
service look-ups as indicated below. I made sure he was willing to do it for
the entire state, and he agreed (Cool, yes?!!).
Anyway, below is his original message, and an example of the information
contained in the book (yes, its my grandfather).
By the way, I have a similar volume on World War II, and will do the same.
(Yes, my father is in that one).
Also, in case you didn't know it, "Vermont in the Civil War" is online, and
I will provide additional details on individual's service when requested.
(No, I don't have any Civil War ancestors - go figure).
Finally, I am 98% finished (i.e. close, but not quite) with putting
everything from the 1892 Revised Roster into a Microsoft Access database.
I'm also expecting about 24,000 Civil War veterans burials in Vermont, in a
spreadsheet (which will convert to the Access file), courtesy of the Vermont
Commandery of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Floyd Blodgett,
Commander, from files obtained from the Vermont Adjutant General's Office.
Records contain all CW veterans buried in Vermont, many from adjoining
states, and even a few Confederates.
Anyway, here's how my entries will be on Essex, Franklin and Grand Isle

Subject: Resources for Lookups
My family were long time residents of Franklin County and mainly lived
in
the
St. Alban's area. My roots are deeply imbedded there. My father
was Louis
J.
Paquet, who was Deputy Marshall for the State of Vermont. I have
acquired
some family heirloom among which are some books which may be helpful to
Vermont genealogy researchers The sources I have are a book called Roster
of
Vermont-Men and Women in the Military and Naval Service of the United
States
and Allies in the World War 1917-1919 and Catalog of the Alumni of the
St.
Albans High School Class of 1921. The Vermont Roster book has the
following
information: Name Residence/Place of Birth, Date/Place of Inductment,
Organization, Grades, Dates of Overseas Assignment and Discharge Date. The
book has 1665 pages. I would be happy to volunteer my time to do lookups in
these two resources that I have. Please let me know if you are interested.
Sincerely,
John L. Paquet
Currently residing in Tucson AZ
Would love to do the look ups in the Roster for the other counties. All they
need to provide is the name and branch of service if they know it. I know
how
hard my wife and I have searched for some of this information for mine and
her
ancestors, especially if your not in the area with access to local
resources.
Here is the information on your grandfather.
