Chief,
Neither Daniel nor Levi Johnson are listed in the 1892 "Revised
Roster of Vermont Volunteers and Lists of Vermonters who served
in the Army and Navy of the U.S. during the War of the Rebellion,
1861-1866."
Don't dispair though, there are other avenues of approach.
If you are fairly certain they were in the Troy area at the start
of the war, you might want to try some local town histories,
which listed all men from the town; or they may have joined a New
Hampshire regiment.
I'm cc'ing this message to the Vermont in the Civil War mailing
list and the Vermont Genealogy Web list in the hopes that someone
might have access either to Troy or Orleans county histories with
Civil War rosters, or the New Hampshire rosters. Can anyone out
there help?
We'll see what shows up.

I am sorry if this enquiry goes to the wrong person , but I hope you may
provide a lead.
My Great Great Grandfather Daniel Webster JOHNSON born 2 April 1841 in Troy
Township, Orleans, Vermont was told to me by a 2nd cousin to be a member of
the Vermont Militia in the Civil War. His brother Levi Johnson was also a
member as she tells me. She is 89 and I cannot confirm any information.
Any suggestions to where to look. I am looking at all sites on VERMONT member
of the Union Army.
Thanks
