Alles,
I am proud to present, "NOTEBOOK: French-Canadian Settlement in the
Champlain Islands, Grand Isle County, Vermont before the year 1800," by
Virginia Demarce, very gratiously contributed by the author. Originally
written in 1984, and updated since then, this study of over 100
French-Canadian surnames should be an excellent resource for anyone in the
northwestern part of the state with French-Canadian ancestry. From the Grand
Isle homepage
http://www.rootsweb.com/~vtgrandi/index.htm, check the "Grand
Isle Families" section.
Before you say I don't have any French-Canadian ancestors (and if you have
hit a brick-wall), I suggest you check this out and note the dozens of
Anglicizations of French-Canadian names.
Regards,
