Greetings, list subscribers:
There are reports circulating that AOL subscribers who have upgraded to the
latest release are having trouble sending messages to RootsWeb. The cause
of the problem is that AOL "likes" to send e-mail in HTML format and
RootsWeb will not accept formatted mail. This a protection against
malicious programs (not exactly viruses but they have the same effect) that
can be activated by viewing HTML e-mail. RootsWeb will accept only plain
text (also known as ASCII text) messages.
If one of you attempts to send a message to the list with HTML formatting,
it will "bounce" to me as the list admin. I will then work with you off
list to get the problem solved. Usually this means changing a setting in
your e-mail client, but there are other ways to do it. Obviously there will
be no ranting and raving (well, at least not on my part <grin>); this is
just a potential technical glitch.
So, dug up any dead ancestors lately? Hit any brick walls we can help each
other with??
