On Dec 14th, my computer decided it had had enough so crashed. Rebooting
failed as the drive was creamed by the Serial ATA port on the
motherboard failure. So I had to purchase a new computer (the old
motherboard was old enough so replacement wasn't an option).
Then I hit a stoke of luck - I found a business in Colchester, VT that
was willing to try to recover the data. They were able to read past the
drive failure and successfully recovered my data. Needless to say my
backups are now directed to an external drive.
I'm slowly getting the source for my VTGENWEB site back and am looking
forward to summer when I plan to visit all cemeteries in Orange County.
I'll be adding photos and directions at that time.

We are all guilty of not backing up our data. I have just purchased a 1TB
portable external drive with a USB 3.0 bus.
Glad you were able to recover your data. Sounds like your drive is still
good, being a SATA drive you can reformat
it and add it to your new pc, but probably you don't need it with the large
drives that come with new pc's.
