Glad you were able to recover your data. Sounds like your drive is still
good, being a SATA drive you can reformat
it and add it to your new pc, but probably you don't need it with the large
drives that come with new pc's.

Paul:
1. If your only backup is to your PC's internal hard drive, you do NOT
have a backup.
2. If your external hard drive is always connected to your PC and turned
on, for all practical purposes it's an internal hard drive -- except
it's easier to bump off the desk and onto the floor. See point 1.
3. Not everybody is guilty of not backing up. Almost, but not quite
everybody.
