This and reply from Rosalie look good.
Ann,
Have you thought of a state wide page for this type of information? If you did, the lazy
Windham County, Vt CC could just add a link to his county page. 8-)

Hi Rod,
"Good stuff" might be found anywhere. ;-)
For early birth, marriage and death records, and other town records, it is
advisable to visit the office of the town clerk in the town where the event
or ancestor resided.
There is an online Town Clerks Guide, 2010, at
<
http://vermont-elections.org/elections1/town_clerks_guide.html>, for
contact information.
Information and addresses for Vermont Probate Court is online at
<
http://www.vermontjudiciary.org/GTC/probate/default.aspx>.
The Vermont State Archives and Records has an online genealogy guide at
<
http://vermont-archives.org/research/genealogy/>, and a research guide at
<
http://vermont-archives.org/research/>.
The Vermont Historical Society and Library, online at
<
http://www.vermonthistory.org/>.
Local historical societies,
<
http://vermonthistory.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&...
id=232>.
Local libraries.
These links may also be found on the topics page of the VTGenWeb,
<
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~vtgenweb/> and or the respective counties
pages.
I hope these help.

Subject: [VTGEN] Field Research Sites
There is a lot of information and pointers for doing network based research
but I regularly have questions about the best way to do on site
investigation. I don't have a good answer for people who want to go out into
the field.
Suppose someone is going to take a trip into VT, where are the good places
to visit that allow research work for data not online. Where do they keep
the GOOD VT records, data, etc. that are not available online? Does anyone
know of any resources that help identify these places?
thanks
